Starting Over the New Year

STARTING OVER is the brand new track by BLACK LIPS, it comes from there 5th studio album, 200 MILLION THOUSAND. The track is slightly on the poppy side with its catchy melody and gentle instruments but the vocals really bring this track forward and give it that garage edge. The lyrics i cant quite work out but i swear he says something along the lines "I will not stop boozing" but its probably nothing like that at all, anyways the new track is the only one they have released so far but you can hear more tracks from the new album live on you tube and judging by them this album is going to be a more fuzzed up lo\fi version of good bad not evil which sounds good to me.

My Boy/My Girl

My Boy/My Girl are another great new band. Their sound is very grunge orientated with hints of pop/punk/indie. They Hail from Norwich in England and they are still very young. They have a vast collection of songs on their myspace which i would recommend you listen to. I would also say they could be England's answer to the new fuzz scene that has been exploding over in America with the likes of No Age, Wavves and Health.

Music that i was Listening to over the Christmas Holidays

Black Lips
Black Time
Deerhunter
Wavves
New Order
The Velvet Underground/Lou Reed

Wavves

Since its the beginning of a new year (2009) i have decided to start of with some new music.

Anyways whilst trawling the internet searching for info on a DEERHUNTER gig in the UK i came across the name WAVVES. He will be the support act for DEERHUNTER at one of their gigs in the UK this year so i thought i best check out his music. Its good! the sound is what i would describe as fuzz pop and at first listen it sounds very simple but after a few listens to it the sound becomes dynamic without it meaning to, i think some of WAVVES songs have some depth to them rather than just being throwaway punk pop (By the way im not a great writer as you can probably tell so just read my writing as best you can) anyways go check him out for yourselves www.myspace.com/wavves

Personal favourite tracks:

Wavves
Weed Demon

WAVVES new album called Wavvves comes out early Feb in the UK.
